Sustainability Manager
Sustainability Manager, Technical Programs and Services Team. The successful candidate will be a key component of the benchmarking team as an experienced technical sustainability expert and will be responsible for the implementation of new and retrofit sustainability projects at R&B Services's mid-mile sortation centers (SCs). The Sustainability Project Manager will play an integral role in the development and implementation of the European (EU) and United Kingdom (UK) networks and will be part of the long-term development of R&B Services’s sustainability infrastructure. This opportunity combines civil engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, benchmarking best practice and contract administration. It requires an individual who can demonstrate proven skills in planning and design and project management/management of new builds and extensions to existing SC buildings, with execution including pre-construction, construction, engineering and commissioning including Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) teamwork.). Proven track record in permitting, design and engineering, and project management. You will be part of our EU/UK benchmarking team, supporting delivery, standards and processes across all parts of our buildings. As a Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be the link between the preconstruction and construction teams, manage ongoing projects on site, and align with the global design sustainability team and design templates. You will be responsible for defining and improving carbon and energy efficiency in all aspects of the built environment; the mechanical, electrical, sprinkler, HVAC, plumbing and BMS systems we design and implement in buildings. Review and consult on templates and execution designs and concepts and drive improvements in all areas of sustainability and carbon reduction. Transportation Engineering Services (TES) steps change. The role may involve approximately ⚠% travel time within the EU/UK. Responsible for monitoring the sustainability of building works, planning and design. Managing sustainability issues for contractors, designers and consultants. Prepare reports, specifications and technical analyzes to fully define design requirements, equipment required and services required. Negotiate contracts with suppliers and submit formal documentation for approval Required Ensure contracts are suitable for sustainability purposes, cost effective and include appropriate service level agreements. Provides comprehensive sustainability site management, coordination, planning, business proposal specifications and subcontractor coordination. Facilitate due diligence assessments of new sustainability opportunities and work with others to ensure contract resources deliver work to meet schedule and quality targets and ensure issues of underperformance are addressed. Audit contractors to verify that the skills and abilities of contract workers meet the needs and that they are suitable to perform the work assigned to them. Establish and operate the information systems required to effectively plan and record contract work. Support contractors in their work and help them achieve higher levels of performance. Mentor other new members on sustainability best practices. Review, challenge and improve mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and BMS service engineering as well as overall design of sample prototypes. Support all technical players (IT, LP, BMS, Risk) in the pre-construction team in using the Sustainability Gateway. Manage the procurement team by defining specifications for MEP categories. Influence, coordinate and achieve strategies related to sustainability goals across all construction activities within our activity programme. Lead technical program reviews and ensure acceleration, cost savings and schedule standardization. Define and implement data collection and delivery strategies for information management of existing and new real estate assets. Collect and synchronize feedback from developers, GC and consultants, as well as internal stakeholders. Assist pre-construction and construction managers with design reviews, GC procurement, value development and bid reviews. Dive into technical details and troubleshoot as needed. Basic Qualification University Degree, BSc. or a master's degree in architecture or engineering (or science/technology). Demonstrated experience in mechanical, electrical and HVAC engineering, execution, design or prototyping, and overall design expertise. Proven technical leadership experience in developing and implementing large, complex projects. Up to ⚠% travel flexibility between European projects. Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project and related software.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience performing in the field, i.e. H. with the general contractor. Advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLookUps) and SQL knowledge. Experience defining project requirements and using data and metrics to identify improvements. Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
