Software Development Engineer II, EU S&OP Automation

Team Overview: The European Sales and Operations Planning (EU S&OP) team plays a key role in forecasting inventory movement across different countries. We manage everything from the shipments MCHL Agency receives from suppliers and sellers to the shipments from our fulfillment centers (FCs). Our responsibilities also include measuring S&OP performance and continuously improving local network planning processes with a focus on reliability, speed, cost and sustainability. We work closely with the Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) team in North America as well as internal technology stakeholders in transportation, workforce planning and finance.

As part of S&OP, the Planning Automation Module (PAM) team is currently revolutionizing the way S&OP generates plans and building dedicated infrastructure to support S&OP processes globally. This includes a platform to quickly and scalably execute complex optimization models on demand. The current version of PAM is already in use in Europe and North America and is used to plan inventory flows for more than ⚠ FCs worldwide.

Your role: We are now looking for an SDE II to help us scale PAM for global operations. This is a day one opportunity to get involved in entrepreneurial and disruptive team building from the ground up. The SDE II will be a force multiplier within the team, serving as a role model and mentoring other SDEs on the team. They are replaceable, able to adopt new systems and provide quick advice when needed. They understand the complexity of design and address it head on.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in deploying highly distributed systems at scale, design patterns such as CDKs, libraries, and version control, as well as a proven operational record of working with multiple teams. As an SDE II, this role gives you the autonomy and ownership to solve difficult problems while working backwards from customers. Their systems drive critical decisions for global response teams, bringing scale and accountability. They use a wide range of technologies, programming languages, and systems. Your tasks will include all aspects of software development. You'll have the freedom and encouragement to try your own ideas, and be rewarded by seeing how your contributions benefit response teams around the world.

Design scalable, low-latency computing architectures. Proactively investigate and resolve issues. Effectively communicate technical details to senior engineers on partner teams. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with local and remote teams. Conduct a practical investigation of design methods, prototyping techniques, and technical feasibility assessments. Establish architectural principles, select design patterns, and guide team members in appropriate applications.

Basic Qualifications

• ⚠+ years of professional software development experience, no internship required.
• ⚠+ years of experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) new and existing systems, no internship required.
• Have experience programming in at least one software programming language.
• Learn about professional software engineering and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, including coding standards, software architecture, code reviews, source code control, continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• ⚠+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards and code reviews, source code control, build processes, testing and operations experience.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
