Senior Data Center Facilities Technician, Electrical

Job Description

Our mission is to arrange the world's information and make it accessible and beneficial to all. The Data Center team has designed and operated some of the most advanced electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems in the world.

Facilities technicians at Google's data centers take care of, observe, and support the physical conditions of facilities. Some of the responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining the temperature of air and water
• Powering the generators
• Providing Global Recruitment systems
• Controlling the electrical distribution
• Monitoring the systems

You frequently assist in the inspection, preservation, and repair of various data center systems like the piping and non-essential electrical or mechanical components. You provide day-to-day assistance to technicians who are senior, you read blueprints/schematics, you conduct tours of the systems, and you assess their effectiveness. As a skilled technician, you develop creative methods of reducing operational expenses while improving the overall efficiency of the data center.

You ensure that environmental and safety regulations are consistently followed, you identify problems and make immediate repairs in emergencies or unusual situations, you manage the data center's performance and outages in order to minimize the amount of time needed to recover from failures.

Main Responsibilities:

• Deploy, operate, and maintain a safe, reliable, and efficient data center infrastructure for Google
• Watch multiple information sources in the room with the control, and make accurate decisions about mission-criticalness
• Be accountable for the uptime, maintenance, and resolution of electrical distribution issues and power monitoring
• Operate, watch, maintain, and respond to abnormalities in the data center's systems and equipment
• Follow the guidelines of environmental health and safety at the site
