Senior Applied Scientist

The Global Recruitment team is responsible for developing a deep understanding of our current network and designing our future network. We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Senior Application Scientist with excellent leadership skills and the ability to develop, automate, and manage analytical models for our systems with minimal guidance. The successful candidate will have strong modeling skills and be comfortable owning data and completing work from concept to execution. This role will also build the tools and support structures needed to analyze data, drill down into data to determine the root causes of errors and variations in forecasting/procurement systems, and present results to business partners to drive improvements. Senior Applied Scientists will use their broad expertise to mentor other scientists and present their work at internal and external meetings. Qualified candidates must have the ability to manage large-scale modeling projects, identify requirements, and develop statistically sound methods and tools. The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating across organizational boundaries, applying statistical methods to data, and developing optimization and machine learning models. Lead and collaborate with engineering and operations teams to drive modeling and technical design of complex business problems. Develop accurate and scalable optimization, mathematical programming, and heuristics to solve our most difficult transportation problems. Perform complex modeling analysis to assist management in making critical business decisions and developing new strategies. Basic Qualifications

• PhD in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
• Programming experience Java, C++, Python or related language
• ⚠+ years of experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications
• Working knowledge of linear and non-linear optimization methods, and expertise in using OR tools (e.g. CPLEX, Gurobi, XPRESS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with patents or publications in top peer-reviewed conferences or journals
• Proven experience in developing complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Experience optimizing supply chain and transportation at scale
