Job Description

Under the supervision of the Program manager of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service (FPDS), the Public Affairs Officer is primarily responsible for providing essential assistance and implementing the communication and public affairs strategy of the Canadian Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg (the Mission). To accomplish this, the officer employs and develops a variety of communication products, monitors the media's coverage of events, and suggests responses to incidents, they establish and maintain a network of contacts in relation to the mission's activities, and they implement events or participate in Canadian events.

The current incumbent is also tasked with creating and reviewing reports regarding strategic matters as well as events and visits. Conducting research and writing complex analyses regarding trends and new methods is also part of the FPDS's duties. Writing strategic plans that consider both budgetary and financial aspects of funding. Providing evidence-based reports that assess the results. Occasionally, the current may be mandated to translate documents and serve as a intérprete for Canadian employees. The position is vulnerable to a certain degree of stress in the management of multiple priorities and deadlines, many of which are urgent, as well as in responding to changing client demands and needs.
