Policy Officer for Aviation

As the Aviation Policy Officer, you will play a central role in coordinating activities, developing policy and representing the ETF in various forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination: Ensure seamless collaboration within the Civil Aviation Department and its sub-departments.
  • Support: Provide necessary support to the Assistant Secretary General for Civil Aviation in the implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Research: Conduct in-depth research on aviation-related topics to inform policy decisions.
  • Communications: Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, responding to their inquiries and maintaining strong lines of communication.
  • Policy: Draft policy documents, reports, position papers and other related materials.
  • Representation: Ensures the ETF engages with external bodies and represents the organization where required.
  • Project Management: Submit and implement EU co-funded projects, demonstrating strong project management skills.
  • Analysis: Build a survey database, collect opinions, and prepare insightful analysis.
  • Policy Insights: Inform the Department of policy developments in the aviation sector and seek its input.
  • Sector Social Dialogue Committee: Support ETF’s work on the Civil Aviation Sector Social Dialogue Committee.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments and communications officers in the Civil Aviation Department, and in collaboration with the ITF Civil Aviation team.
  • Events: Design and implement impactful aviation-related events.
  • Meeting Management: Organizing, attending and hosting meetings. Work closely with the Administrative Assistant to ensure effective follow-up.

Education: Master's degree.

Experience: A minimum of ⚠ years of union experience is essential, aviation or affiliate or NGO expertise is considered a major advantage.

Values: A strong commitment to the union’s values.

EU Bubble Exposed: This knowledge is a huge advantage.

Language skills: Fluent in English.

Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information.

Proactivity: High degree of initiative and flexibility in managing complex processes.

Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in small teams.

Adaptability: Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations.

IT Knowledge: Use MS Office with confidence.

Travel: Willingness and ability to travel ⚠/⚠ times per month.

Recruitment process

  1. Online interview with external interviewer. Personality/performance test, followed by practical tasks on communication strategies.
  2. With Secretary-General Marc Allen, Under-Secretary-General for Civil Aviation Sabine Trier (your future manager) and Joseph, Head of Operations for Central and Eastern Europe and Gender Equality · Personal interview by Josef Maurer (ETF covers reasonable travel costs for non-female - applicants residing in Brussels). A decision will be made within one week of the second interview.
