As Policy Advisor, you will play an important role in supporting the Secretary-General in all policy activities. You can take on different roles, with a broad network and room for personal responsibility and career path.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research: Conduct relevant research and analysis to support the decision-making process.
- Policy Advice and Support: Provides policy advice to the Secretary-General and drafts briefings, policy recommendations, presentations and speeches for confirmation by the Secretary-General.
- Networking: Establish and maintain connections with institutions and other external stakeholders.
- Meeting Management: Assists in organizing and chairing all internal and external meetings of the Secretary-General.
- ETF Governing Body: Coordinates and leads preparations for the ETF Governing Body, including preparing the agenda and overseeing the implementation of decisions.
- Liaison with VacatureNet: Work with the VacatureNet Strategy Implementation Team to coordinate joint ETF/VacatureNet projects and policies.
- Solidarity: Design and coordinate solidarity actions to support member organizations during disputes.
- Collaboration: Collaborates with other ETF divisions and communications officers.
Educational background: Master's degree in Political Science or EU Law or EU Studies or Sociology.
Experience: Minimum of ⚠ years of union experience required.
Values: A strong commitment to the union’s values.
Language Skills: Excellent spoken and written skills in English, other languages is always an advantage in such a multicultural organization.
Communication: Strong communication and negotiation skills, able to summarize complex information and remain diplomatic at all times.
Project Management: Excellent planning, analysis and problem-solving skills.
Initiative: Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
IT Knowledge: Use MS Office with confidence.
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel ⚠/⚠ times per month.

Recruitment process:
- Online interview with external interviewer. Personality/performance test, followed by practical tasks.
- Personal interview with Secretary General (your future manager) Brecht De Waele and Head of Operations for Central and Eastern Europe and Gender Josef Maurer (ETF provides reasonable travel expenses for applicants who are not in Brussels). A decision will be made within one week of the second interview.
