Food Safety Manager Europe
About the Position
The European Food Safety Manager is responsible for keeping abreast of changes in technology and processes and ensuring that facilities in the European region comply with BC food safety policies, standards and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, GFSI certification and customer food products meet or exceed safety requirements. The European Food Safety Manager is a regional subject matter expert in the areas of microbiology, hygiene, hygienic design, hygienic zoning, environmental monitoring, allergens and toxicological food safety risks.

External and external customers, training organizations, suppliers and service providers including but not limited to pest controllers, metal detector manufacturers, plumbing companies and industry consultants.
Main Tasks
- Promote the improvement of food safety standards
- Develop, improve and maintain food safety standards and guidelines based on industry best practices, GFSI standards and customer requirements
- Participate in the development and review of global food safety standards (e.g. GMP, allergens, food safety directives)
- Coordinate, audit and review implementation of food safety and GSFI standards
- Coordinate audits of facilities in the region based on company and regional quality management system standards, GFSI standards and customer requirements
- Identify main issues occurring at the facility (food safety), identify problem areas and propose improvements
- Inspect locations and inform local and regional staff of inspection results
- Work with Operations/Quality Assurance/Maintenance to resolve audit issues and agree corrective actions, including food safety investments, with local and regional teams
- Promote and support the implementation of new or improved standards
- Train local management on food safety requirements
- Assist facilities in complying with key customer requirements and BC standards, and assist in responding to food safety crises (e.g., allergen issues, CCP failures)
- Share best practices between sites and provide food safety support
- Identify and communicate on-site food safety risks and provide recommendations on food safety plans
- Coordinate the region's global food safety policy gap assessment
- Work with global quality assurance and engineering to define the scope and format of compliance summary reports
- Provide expertise and support through partnerships with R&D, supply chain, customer service and procurement
- Ensure risk assessment is applied in the development of ingredients, products and processes
- Ensure food safety is integrated into processes and appropriate R&D training is conducted
- If necessary, write a food safety statement
- Carry out technical solutions for specific food safety projects when necessary
- Continuously improve own knowledge in the field of food safety
- Review, exchange information and support on all issues related to food safety
- Ensure sharing of best practices
- Draft, contribute and review global, regional and local standards
- Lead regional projects to improve food safety standards
- Understand Global Recruitment programs and learn how to design, evaluate, and improve them
- Provide guidance to the facility during incidents
About You
Master's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Engineering or equivalent. Formal HACCP training. Advanced training in microbiology, hygiene and hygienic design PCQI certification Fluency in English and other languages Global Recruitment requirements: ⚠% ⚠+ years of experience working with a GFSI certified food manufacturer Experience communicating with customers, auditors and regulatory agencies. Experience conducting internal and external food safety audits of facilities/vendors. Experience designing and implementing food safety programs/programs. Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Experience participating in, designing and implementing environmental monitoring programs. ⚠+ years of quality assurance and food safety experience in an international food, pharmaceutical or feed company. Audit Project Experience Management knowledge of Food Safety Management, HACCP Management, Hygiene, GMP (Hygiene Practices, Environmental Hygiene, Environmental Monitoring, etc.) and GFSI Certification Systems (BRC, FSSC ⚠).
