Early Experience
Completing work as directed and working with teammates; developing knowledge of relevant concepts and processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree, high school diploma, other verifiable training in related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience maintaining machinery, including fire and security systems, building infrastructure, pumps, tanks, piping, elevators, and cooling systems (e.g., HVAC equipment, chillers, cooling towers).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in mechanical maintenance of large critical facilities (e.g., data centers, pharmaceutical/medical/electrical installations), including maintenance of Global Recruitment systems, generators, and related equipment.
- Experience investigating errors and performing data analysis.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, Global Recruitment systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, chillers, or commercial HVAC units.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes, procedures and equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to complete system maintenance or projects.
- Ability to work outside of standard hours, including shift schedules, weekends, and holidays.
About the Work
Data Center team designs and operates some of the world's most complex electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. Factory engineers in Google data centers operate, monitor, and support the health of physical assets. These tasks include air and water heating and cooling, power supply, generators, Global Recruitment systems, power distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
You will regularly assist with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of various data center systems (such as plumbing and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components). On a daily basis, you will assist Senior Technicians in reading blueprints/wiring diagrams, performing system inspections, and evaluating their functionality. As an advocate of best practices, you will develop creative ways to reduce operating costs while improving overall data center efficiency.
They ensure environmental and safety standards are always met, identify problems and fix them quickly. Manage data center performance issues and outages during emergency or abnormal situations to minimize outage recovery time.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor multiple information flows in the control room and make accurate business-critical decisions.
- Responsible for the normal operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of various data center systems such as pumps, HVAC, control and monitoring systems, backup generation and distribution.
- Operate, monitor, maintain and respond to abnormal conditions in data center facility systems and equipment.
- Leads the execution of complex control system programming.
- Commissioning, documentation and complete asset turnaround of assigned projects.
- Comply with site environmental, health and safety policies.
