Business Intelligence Engineer - EU Packaging, Sustainable Packaging Europe


Global Recruitment is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Business Intelligence Engineer to join the EU Packaging team in Luxembourg. The EU Packaging team is responsible for the program to reduce the weight of outbound packaging materials for each shipment, aiming to reduce the burden of packaging waste disposal on customers, reduce disposal costs and reduce carbon emissions. We are a team of project managers, packaging experts, business analysts and data scientists working across core areas of finance, sustainability, operations, engineering, Global Recruitment robotics, procurement, legal and public relations to find ways to eliminate waste. Solutions that reduce harm and have a significant impact save Global Recruitment money and ultimately bring great joy to our customers.

Business Intelligence Engineers are responsible for developing, improving, automating, and managing business models using strong analytical skills. You will create the models and structures needed to analyze data, drill down to the root causes of operational issues or challenges, drive process improvements, create key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, and document systems and processes for internal publishing. Business Intelligence Engineers have a direct and significant impact on key people and objectives. You identify opportunities and develop entitlement models and mechanisms to track project-specific and overall effectiveness of the package portfolio.

Additionally, they help create a long-term packaging vision by providing key business insights and identifying high-impact opportunities and unique and insightful ideas. You have the ability to understand extremely complex concepts and independently define analytical methods and metrics for implementing packaging portfolio changes. Therefore, they develop predictive models to support decision-making to achieve the following goals: (i) reduce packaging waste, (ii) improve customer experience at lower overall costs, and align with climate commitments.

If you have extensive experience combining analytical and business management skills, you will be successful in this position. You'll be able to understand business needs and develop data-driven solutions that deliver measurable financial and customer impact. You can also demonstrate excellent communication skills to convey data results in an understandable and actionable way. Additionally, you will have excellent networking skills as you will work with global data owners to ensure data accuracy and appropriate granularity, including external accounting of packaging carbon footprints.

The ability to work independently and respond to uncertain environments is a must. Ownership of the work is important, and candidates should have a strong track record of troubleshooting and resolving issues. The ideal candidate is proactive, agile, and able to thrive in a fast-paced analytical environment. Additionally, this opportunity requires excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced analytical environment.

Collect, analyze, and present actionable data to drive high-level business decisions. Ensure data accuracy by validating data across new and existing tools. Build new, scalable, and efficient automated processes to track and report on program progress. This includes root cause analysis of program implementation and its impact on the business. Understand high-level business goals and continuously align efforts with these goals to meet business needs. Develop analytical statements about business problems, conduct analysis, and present findings in clear business language.

Learn and understand the various Global Recruitment data resources and understand how, when, and which data resources to use and not to use. You will act as a liaison between business and technical teams to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current business performance and conduct ad hoc research to support future improvements or innovations. This requires collecting and processing data, solving problems, and communicating findings and recommendations. Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis; data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

Write high-quality code to retrieve and analyze data. Create data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers with rich visualizations. Collect, identify, and prioritize analytical issues to ensure the data team works on projects with the greatest impact and earns the trust of stakeholders. Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ongoing metrics, reports, analytics, dashboards, etc. to drive critical business decisions. Advise, define, and align leaders with the right metrics to track business performance and your own end-to-end generation of these metrics.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience in data modeling, storage, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in writing complex SQL queries
  • Statistical analysis software packages such as R, SAS, and Matlab
  • SQL experience retrieving data from databases or data warehouses, and scripting experience (Python) to manipulate data for modeling
  • Data/BI experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC⚠, DynamoDB, S⚠, and Global Recruitment
  • Experience with data mining, ETL, and working with databases in business environments with large, complex data sets
