Job description

At the National Bank of Belgium (NBB), we are looking for a lawyer (F/M/X) to strengthen our supervision of banks and stockbrokers regarding Prudential, and to increase our recruitment reserve. This service is responsible for overseeing credit institutions and stockbrokers of various sizes, activities, and risk profiles, ensuring that each institution carries out its own activities and manages its own financial risks in a prudent and appropriate manner, in accordance with relevant regulations.

Tasks

• Supervising compliance by financial institutions with legal requirements in the areas of financial health and safety.
• Analysing risks and health status of financial institutions and the financial sector.
• Assisting in the implementation of regulations and supervision policies of financial institutions.

Profile

• Master's or PhD in Law.
• Experience with banking regulations/supervision or willingness to focus on it.
• Strong analytical and synthetic thinking.
• Excellent writing and speaking skills.
• Confidence, ability to debate and persuade, resilience, and adaptability.
• Work independently or in a team, background in ethics and confidentiality.
• Active knowledge of French (B2 level) and good knowledge of English (B1 level).
• Knowledge of the European Common Supervisory Mechanism (GMT)/SSM is a plus.
